A mentally ill man who killed 10 people at a Colorado supermarket in 2021 has been sentenced to life in prison for murder. Jurors reached a guilty verdict Monday in the trial of Ahmad Alissa.

A Colorado jury on Monday rejected an insanity defense and convicted the man who gunned down 10 people at a Boulder supermarket three years ago of murder. Ahmad Alissa, 25, was found guilty on all 55 charges, including 10 counts of first-degree murder, in the March 22, 2021, assault at King Soopers.

The jury found Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa guilty of shooting and killing 10 people at the South Table Mesa King Soopers on March 22, 2021, in addition to guilty verdicts on dozens of other counts of attempted murder.

The jury trial hinged not on whether Ahmad Al Alissa opened fire but whether the mentally ill man understood the difference between right and wrong.
