General Motors (GM) electric vehicles can now charge at Tesla Supercharger stations, thanks to the launch of new North American Charging Standard (NACS) DC adapters. GM has begun selling these adapters for $225 each,

GM says it’s ready to start selling power adapters compatible with Tesla, more than a year after it announced plans to adopt the related charging standard.

After a delay of several months, General Motors said owners of its battery-powered models would now be able to use Tesla charging stations with adapters.

General Motors has announced its electric vehicles can now use the Tesla Supercharger network of fast chargers, but owners must buy a $225 adapter.

To gain immediate access, owners of electric Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC vehicles will need to purchase “GM approved” Tesla adapters through each brand’s smartphone app for $225. Future GM vehicles will come with Tesla’s charging port natively installed.

Previously, GM electric vehicles weren’t compatible with Tesla Superchargers, as they were outfitted with a different proprietary charging port. Those who own these EVs can purchase an adapter for $225 using your vehicle brand’s mobile app. The app can also help owners locate the closest Supercharger station.

Hoping to spark higher EV sales, General Motors Co. is offering owners adapters to access the Tesla Supercharger network.

Ford triggered a transformation when the U.S. automaker locked in a deal to give owners of its EVs access to the Tesla Supercharger network. EV owners of GM vehicles like the Chevrolet Silverado EV and Cadillac Lyriq will now officially have access to Tesla’s Superchargers.
