NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Delhi minister Atishi will take over as the new chief minister of India's national capital territory after the resignation of incumbent Arvind Kejriwal, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party said on Tuesday.

Prominent opposition leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has resigned from his post, days after getting bail in a corruption case. Kejriwal spent five months in jail in connection with a now-scrapped alcohol sales policy. He has denied the allegations against him.

Aam Aadmi Party senior officials have confirmed that Delhi's designated Chief Minister Atishi alongside her cabinet will officially take oaths of office on 21.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) party had initially decided that only Atishi would be sworn in, however, it was later determined that her council of ministers would also take the oath.

Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday said that Rajya Sabha MP Atishi will take oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21.
